North East Tunnel Expansion Project to Close Part of Wilson Drive Sidewalk

- North East Tunnel Construction to Close Part of Sidewalk on Wilson Drive
- Pedestrians asked to Use Alternate Route Near Building 6

Construction of the North East Utility Tunnel is scheduled to begin on April 1, 2004. The tunnel will provide utility services for the Building 33 complex and improve utility reliability, capacity and efficiency for the northeast section of campus. Throughout the duration of the project, fences as well as sediment and soil erosion control devices will be installed.

As part of the construction, a portion of the sidewalk along Wilson Drive from East Drive to Center Drive will be closed from April 9, 2004 to April 1, 2005. Pedestrians will be asked to walk up to Building 6 to reach Center Drive.

Starting in June 2004, the project will affect Wilson Drive including a temporary detour around construction activity. In order to minimize disruption to traffic, any work affecting Center Drive will be conducted during off-hours. The project is expected to continue until March 2005.
