Final Lot Closure - Lots 10C/10D to Close on December 15

* Final Lot Closure - 10C/10D - Expected on December 15
* Construction to Begin on 930-Space Northwest Parking Garage

On December 15, the NIH will make the last of the expected parking reductions as we close lots 10C and 10D, temporarily removing about 200 parking spaces. That's the bad news. The good news is that the closure also marks the start of construction on a new 930-space parking garage, the Northwest Parking Garage, which will be erected on the site at the intersection of South Drive and Convent Drive. A map of the lots to be closed and the location of the new Northwest Parking Garage can be found at: http://www.nih.gov/od/ors/maps/lot10_detail.gif

Limited alternative parking remains available on the Bethesda campus throughout the day. The new Temporary Graveled Lot T-17N located near the Medical Center Metro Station, and stacked parking throughout the Natcher Garage are your best bets.

There are also more than 200 parking spaces still available throughout the day in the Mid-Pike Plaza Commuter Parking Lot at Rockville Pike and Montrose Road. The NIH Shuttle operates to this site and has increased hours. Any NIH parking hanger except the Satellite hanger is recognized at this location. Additionally, 200 spaces are available at the Twinbrook Metro garage for frequent or occasional NIH Metro riders. On a related note, construction of the new Multi-Level Parking Garage MLP-10 adjacent to Building 33 is moving forward. With an anticipated opening date of October 2004, MLP-10 will provide over 1200 parking spaces when complete.
